Phantom D-Pole Review

Wolf Athletics just released a d-pole. Much like the Ghost shaft, their newest shaft flexes when you pass and shoot. Unlike the Ghost shaft the Phantom has a metal rod in the middle to provide some stability. The pole is definitely on the heavier side, but after a few minutes you become acclimated to the extra weight. However I would only recommend this pole to an LSM. The Phantom shaft is built for shooting and the fact of the matter is most defenders aren't going to be taking a ton of shots. Other than the occasional full field sprint of glory, poles don't shoot. LSM's however can be very effective offensive weapons. The Phantom does increase the speed of shots dramatically, and I can see this pole becoming a staple among LSM's. On my review of the Ghost shaft a few of you expressed concerns about the durability of the shaft, I fully understand those concerns. Both of these shafts are plastic and it would seem that they couldn't stand up to the rigors that a lacrosse shaft must endure. Wolf Athletics offers a 5 year warranty on all of their shafts, that is more than triple the warranty of any other shaft on the market. In conclusion the Phantom shaft increases shot speed tremendously and is absolutely perfect for the offensive minded LSM.
